why does a feather falls slowly and a metal baal falls quickly , - TopicsExpress

why does a feather falls slowly and a metal baal falls quickly , when both are dropped at the same time , from the same hieght??? The answer is simple. People usually have a missconsception about what is weight of a body and what is the force of gravity by which the body is pulled by earths gravitation. The body with greater mass has a greater force acting on it, as stated by newtons second law F=Ma, therefore the metal ball with more mass will have a greater force of gravity acting on it( weight), than the feather with less mass. then it is obvious that ball will fall quicker than the feather, isnt it? :p the answer is NO!!!. The time elapsed depends on the acceleration of the body and not the force. both body is accelerated at the same rate. EVERY BODY FALLING FROM SAME HEIGHT ON EARTH ARE BEING ACCELERATED AT THE SAME RATE. then they should fall together?? But that does not happen because of air resistance, bodies with less density or saying bodies with more volume will have more upthrust produced by the air , or saying as it will have more air resistance, later in this video you will hear saying that in free fall is actually a condition of NO GRAVITY, NO ACCELERATION,NO FORCE, This theory further comes from general relativity, to no more space/17661-theory-general-relativity.html https://youtube/watch?v=E43-CfukEgs
