x-post from fb running, as this was intended to go here. I’m not a runner. I can’t run. I’ve got medical conditions. I’m too busy to run. I hate running. As I sit down and reflect over the past year (and beyond), I realize I avoided running ever since my IDF training, some 19 years ago. I wanted to change all of this in 2014, after the birth of my 2nd child. I wanted to feel happier, healthier, and more fit. Being a father of two amazing daughters, and having a working spouse, I needed to find a sport that would accommodate my busy schedule. a sport that I can practice anywhere. anytime. with little dependency on equipment, weather, or friends. Running seems to check all boxes. When I started running a few months ago, I hated it. I couldn’t compete a single mile without breaking into a walk. I couldn’t breath after a few minutes of mild jogging. I’ve chatted with Joaquin Quiñonero Candela, who have managed to provide me some training tips, and obviously, endless amounts of motivation. Seeing the mileage and effort the people in this group were piling up proved to be a great source of inspiration and motivation. for that, I am thankful. I was determined to be able to complete 6 miles runs by the end of the year, and to run regularly. I remember the sense of accomplishment the first time I completed a 2 miles run without breaking into a walk. the first time I completed 3 miles. On December 13,2014, I ran my first 6 miles. I now run whenever I can. I prioritize running over most (if not all) my free-time activities. Above riding my beloved motorcycle. and sometimes even over reading, while my girls are napping. I love running. thank you all for helping me transform my life. YTD: 157 miles.
