yesterday i gave an interview to Voice of America/Indonesia. Ostensibly it was about the gay history of the Dupont Circle neighborhood of the 60s & 70s but they asked me about the anti-war movement, which was very focused there too then and i talked about MayDay 1971 when we were trying to stop the Vietnam War by blocking Dupont Circle and a lot of streets downtown, mass non-violent civil disobedience, arrests. It worked, gradually, in the sense that after many senseless deaths the war ended. Is something different happening w/U.S. people expressing will to govt now?
