youtu.be/tVM3O6zOhIU Its still hard to know what to say in the one year that has followed the death of Dallas Jacob Simms. On one hand I would do anything for another day to just hang out and talk with him. He was one of the few people I could have a deep conversations about what this whole experience of life is about. On the other hand, Im beyond happy that hes in good hands. Dallas was one who loved God, especially near the end if his life. A few months before his passing, I remember being an emotional wreck, and him comforting me by just smiling and saying I dont know exactly how it feels to be in you shoes, but I love you man. Youre just going through a funk, it will pass. Thats the kind of heart Dallas had, and the ability for him to express compassion for the ones he loved. So we had our share of times for comforting and helping each other in times of need, and we had the good times. The years in high school with endless nights eating pizza rolls, playing Mario kart, and playing music with all the guys. The trips to Panama City beach, the shows with Meadowvale. The trips to Pickwick and last year when I spent hours trying to find him at Bonnaroo. Even the most mundane of times, just sitting around playin NBA 2k, or playing music in his garage while taking breaks to look up some funny youtube video, are things I look back on and am happy I was able to experience. I would trade anything for another day with my best friend. There arent many souls in the world as sweet as his. I still know hes with me today, and with all the ones he loved. As a tribute to our obsession with South Park, and a personal favorite clip of Dallass and myself, I give you the ladder to heaven song. I love you Dallas, and I miss you more and more every day.
