youtube/watch?v=2UZjX_ZGzPc TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Members from the Department of Highway Safety & Motor Vehicles and the Florida Highway Patrol spent the morning at America’s Second Harvest of the Big Bend today to donate thousands of non-perishable food items! “We were thrilled when FHP called us. This was their idea. They wanted to do something to help out during one of our busiest seasons of the year so that’s how the “Stuff the Charger” event was created”, said Chief Executive Director of the Big Bend Rich English. “It started with a meeting here in Tallahassee and FHP coordinated the effort across the state. It’s been well done in every part of the state.” Once the inaugural effort was announced by FHP, citizens responded by dropping off non-perishable food items at the various locations all over the state and especially in the Big Bend. The goal was to literally stuff the FHP Chargers with as much food as possible. “And the citizens of the Big Bend and across the state came through for the neighbors in need. We know this was so successful because of the efforts of the Florida Highway Patrol, so we thank them”, adds English. “FHP collected for more than 650 pounds of food for the Big Bend and that equates into more than 540 meals. These items will make a big difference this holiday season.” ________________________________________
