youtube/watch?v=ovMvXnCfArI This week my baby, Rick Florino turns 30. My prayer is that I can be with him on his birthday this year Thanksgiving day. There are so many reasons to be proud of my boy. He graduated Magna Cum Laude at only 19 from Boston University and then moved to Hollywood, by himself, to start a career as a writer. He produced a music magazine, wrote a book about his experience in the business, he has interviewed people the rest of us only see in concerts and movies. He has received 5 gold records, two of which I have proudly displayed. I have seen his name on movie travelers on television. One of the proudest moments of my life was the day I randomly opened a New York Times on an airplane and a full page movie ad had Rick’s quote on it. However, it is not these things that make me most proud of Rick it is the Man he has become. It is the many times this year he has put his own life on hold, without warning, to fly here to be with me. It is the spirit of service and the giving kind heart he has to the world and community. This week he will fly to Louisiana to participate in a Turkey drive, one of the many give back activities he participates in. Most of all I am grateful to Rick for the lessons he has taught me in patience, persistence, dedication and hard work. The absolute belief that if you do the right thing you will succeed without ever having to compromise your personal integrity. The spirit of always rising above disappointment and believing that ultimately we achieve what we are destined to become if we only work harder. I love you my darling, and on this special birthday my wish is that soon enough all your hard work will give back to you!
