لتي أشرت إليها. قال الشارح: فإن قيل: فما مستندكم في هذا التأويل؟. قلنا: مستندنا فيه مستند علماء اليهود في تأويل أمثاله من الحروف المشكلة التي جاءت في التوراة، “I say that the 2 letters (meem and dal) represents the words. The commentator said the numerical value of “Ha” is 8 , “Ba” is 2 , and both the “Alif” is equal to 1 each and “Dal” is 4. Hence total of all this is : [ Ba (2) + Alif (1) +Alif (1) + Dal (4) ] which is equal to the numerical value of “Ha” [8]. Hence “mamaad baad” is based on the three fourth of the name “Muhammad” (sallellahu alaihi wasallam) and the remaining one fourth is represented by the other letters,when it is written in a way as I have described.” “The commentator said : If it is asked what is your evidence for this type of interpretation ? The Answer : We say ,our understanding is based on the same interpretation which the Jewish scholars have employed while explaining the difficult words found in Torah.” [ Ibn Qayyim al Jawziyya. Page : 95 ] * Imam Ibn al Jazari al Shafi’i (833 A.H) writes in his classical poetic text on the rules of Qirat: “Its verses are “Qaaf” ,numerical value is 100 and Arabic “zaa” numerical value is 7 in number,whosoever is good in his application of science of Tajwid has truly gained true guidance” [ Manzumah al Muqaddimah, Page : 11 ,Dar Nur Al Maktabat al Saudia.,1427/2006 ] See the Photo of Page. * Allama Sulayman al Jamzuri al Shafi’I (d.1208 A.H) writes in his poem on Tajwid: أَبْيَاتُهُ نَدٌّ بَدَا لِذِي النُّهَى تَارِيخُهَا بُشْرَى لِمَنْ يُتْقِنُهَا Its verses are “Naddun badaa” [aloes wood appearing : the numerical value is 67] for the person of intelligence and its date is “bushraliman yutqinuha” [ glad tidings for the one who masters them: the numerical value is 1198.] [ Tuhfat al- Atfal , Page:04 ,Aqsaamu Maddal Lazim, 59 ] Why to Use of 786 ? The numerical value of "bismillah hir rahman nirraheem" is 786 according to abjad system of calculation.It shoud be noted that 786 does not equal to the recitation or writing "bismillah hir rahman nir raheem" in arabic.It is only the numerical value of the alphabets which are present in "bismillah hir rahman nirraheem". Now a days people write bismillah hir rahman nirraheem on marriage invitaion cards ,newspapers etc,..which are often published and handled by non muslims who donot show respect to the arabic verses of Quran.There is always fear of disrespect if bismillah hir rahman nirraheem is written in full. Hence in all these cases it is prefereable to use number 786 instead. Prophet(peace be upon him) forbade travelling with the quran in the land of the enemy. lest it should fall into the hands of the enemy. وَحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ رُمْحٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ، اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَنْهَى أَنْ يُسَافَرَ بِالْقُرْآنِ إِلَى أَرْضِ الْعَدُوِّ مَخَافَةَ أَنْ يَنَالَهُ الْعَدُوُّ [Sahih Muslim ,Hadith:1869 Muatta imam Malik ,Kitab al Jihad, Hadith :07
