जैन मंत्र : श्री बृहत – शांति (बड़ी) भो भो भव्या! श्रृणुत वचनं, प्रस्तुतं सर्वमेतद्, ये यात्रायां त्रि-भुवन गुरो-रार्हता! भक्ति-भाजः! तेषां शांतिर्भवतु भवतामर्हदादिप्रभावा, दारोग्य-श्री धृति-मति-करी क्लेशविंध्वंस- हेतुः ॥1॥ Translation: O Noble ones. Listen to this, which is appropriate for this day: May those lay people (shrävakas), who are engaged in the worship of the Guru of the three worlds get good health, wealth, contentment and wisdom and may their attachments and aversions be destroyed and they receive peace due to the prowess of the Arihantas. (1) भो भो भव्यलोकाः इह हि भरतैरावतविदेहसंभवाना समस्ततीर्थकृतां जन्मन्यासन-प्रकम्पानन्तर-मवधिना विज्ञाय, सौधर्माधिपतिः सुघोषा घण्टा-चालनानन्तरं सकल-सुराऽसुरेन्द्रैः सह समागत्य सविन-मर्हद् भट्टारकं गृहीत्वा, गत्वा कनकाद्रिश्रृंगे विहितजन्माभिषेकः शांतिमुद्घोषयति यथा, ततोऽहम्‌ कृतानुकारमिति कृत्वा महाजनो येन गतः स पन्था, इति भव्यजनैः सहसमेत्य, स्नात्रपीठे स्नात्रं विधाय, शांतिमुद्घोषयामि, तत्‌ पूजा-यात्रा स्नात्रादि-महोत्सवानन्तरमिति कृत्वा कर्णं दत्वा निशम्यतां निशम्यतां स्वाहा॥2 Translation: O Noble ones, when the Tirthankaras in Bharat, Eravat, or Mahävideha were born, Saudharma’s (One of the gods, Indra) throne was shaken miraculously and he knew this by his supreme knowledge. He rang the bell (the bell is called Sughoshä) and all Gods and Goddesses took the child (Mahävira) to Mount Meru for a divine bathing ceremony. All performed the ritual and proclaimed peace. I, too, similarly sing a song of praise today because it is customary to follow them. The true path is the one on which the great people have walked, so I also tread the same path while doing the ritual and reciting the hymn. Every time I do this ritual or go on a pilgrimage, I proclaim this hymn of peace. You too please listen to this carefully. ॐ पुण्याऽहं पुण्याऽहं, प्रीयन्ता प्रीयन्तां भगवन्तोऽर्हन्तः सर्वज्ञाः सर्वदर्शिनस्त्रिलोक नाथास्त्रिलोक-महतास्त्रिलोकपूज्या-स्त्रिलोकेश्वरा-स्त्रिलोकोद्योतकराः ॥3 Translation: Aum, today is the day of merit. Let all nice things happen to us. Let the Arihantas who are divine, all knowers, all seers, lords of the three worlds, all those who are worshipped by the three worlds, and all those who brighten up the three worlds, be pleased with us. (3) ॐ ऋषभ-अजित-संभव-अभिनंदन-सुमति पद्मप्रभ -सुपार्श्व-चंद्रप्रभ-सुविधि-शीतल-श्रेयांस-वासुपूज्य-विमल- अनन्त-धर्म-शांति-कुन्थु-अर-मल्लि-मुनिसुब्रत नमि-नेमि-पार्श्व-वर्धमानान्ता जिनाः शांताः शांतिकरा भवन्तु स्वाहा ॥4 Translation: Let Rishabha, Ajita, Sambhav, Abhinandan, Sumati, Padmaprabhu, Supärsva, Chandraprabha, Suvidhi, Shital, Shreyäns, Väsupujya, Vimal, Anant, Dharma, Shänti, Kunthu, Ara, Malli, Munisuvrata, Nami, Nemi, Pärshva and Vardhamäna (These are the names of the twenty-four Tirthankaras) grant the peace.(4) ॐ मुनयो मुनि-प्रवरा रिपु-विजय-दुर्भिक्ष-कान्तारेषु दुर्ग-मार्गेषु रक्षन्त वो नित्यं स्वाहा ॥5 Translation: Let all the great seers and disciples of the Tirthankaras grant you victory over your enemies, and protect you during the time of famine, and protect you in the jungles and on the roads which are very difficult to pass along. (5) ॐ ह्रीं श्री-धृति-मति-कीर्ति-कान्ति-बुद्धि-लक्ष्मी-मेधा-विद्या-साधन-प्रवेश-निवेशनेषु सुगृहीतनामानोज़यन्तु ते जिनेन्द्राः ॥6 Translation: Victory to the Jinendras, whose names are worth remembering in the auspicious mantras like Aum, Hrim, Shrim; and who are givers of contentment, patience, vision, foresight, prestige, charm, intelligence, wealth, good memory, knowledge, etc. Their names are to be recited when entering the residential places or towns.(6) ॐ रोहिणी-प्रज्ञप्ति-वज्र श्रृंखला-वज्रांकुशी अप्रतिचक्रा-पुरुषदत्ता-काली-महाकाली-गौरी-गान्धारी-सर्वास्त्रामहाज्वाला-मानवी-वैरोठ्या-अच्छुप्ता-मानसी-महामानसी षोडश विद्या-देव्यो रक्षन्तु वो नित्यं स्वाहा ॥7. Translation: Aum… let Rohini, Pragnapti, Vajrashrunkhlä, Vajränkushi, Apratichakrä, Purushdattä, Käli, Mahäkäli, Gori, Gändhäri, Sarvashrä-Mahäjvalä, Mänvi, Vairutyä, Achuptä, Mänsi, Mahämänsi these sixteen goddesses of knowledge always protect you.(7) ॐ आचार्योपाध्याय-प्रभृति-चातुर्वर्णस्यं श्री श्रमणसंघस्य शांतिर्भवतु तुष्टिर्भवतु पुष्टिर्भवतु ॥8 Translation: Aum Ächärya, Upädhyäya and the fourfold Jain sangha attain peace, contentment and the fulfilment of religion. (8) ॐ ग्रहाश्चन्द्रसूर्याङ्गारक-बुध-बृहस्पति-शुक्र-शनैश्चर-राहु-केतुसहिताः सलोकपालाः सोम-यम-वरुण-कुबेर-वासवादित्य-स्कंदविनायकोपेता, ये चान्येऽपि ग्राम-नगर-क्षेत्र-देवतादयस्ते सर्वे प्रीयन्तां प्रीयन्तां, अक्षीणकोश-कोष्ठागारा नरपतयश्य भवन्तु स्वाहा ॥9 Translation: Aum.. (nine) planets like Chandra, Surya, Angärak, Budh, Brahspati, Shukra, Shani, Rähu, Ketu; four guardians of these worlds like Soma, Yam, Varun, Kuber and Guardian-gods like Väsava, Skanda, Vinäyak, Ganesh, and other gods of any other places, villages and towns etcetera be pleased and give us boons. Let there be rulers whose treasures and stores (silos) remain inexhaustible. (9) ॐ पुत्र-मित्र-भ्रातृ-कलत्र-सुहृत-स्वजन-संबंधि-बंधुवर्गसहिता नित्यं चामोद-प्रमोद-कारिणः। अस्मिंश्च भूमंडल आयतन-निवासि-साधु-साध्वी-श्रावक-श्राविकाणां रोगोपसर्ग-व्याधि-दुःख-दुर्भिक्ष-दौर्मनस्योपशमनाय शांतिर्भवन्तु ॥10 Translation: Let all sons (and daughters), friends, brothers (and sisters), spouse, all friends, members of your clan and relatives be happy and give happiness to others Let all the diseases, obstacles, pains, miseries, famine and instabilities of all the monks, nuns, laymen and laywomen be removed /destroyed. (10) ॐ तुष्टि-पुष्टि ऋद्धि-वृद्धि-मांगल्योत्सवाः ॥सदाप्रादुर्भूलतानि, पापानि शाम्यन्तु दुरितानि, शत्रवः पराङ्मुखा भवन्तु स्वाहा ॥ 11 Translation: Let there be contentment, fulfilment, increase in energy, wealth and welfare. Let there be celebrations and joy. Let all sins and vices be destroyed. Let all enemies turn their backs and depart. (11) श्रीमते शांतिनाथाय, नमः शांतिविधायिने, त्रैलोक्यस्यामराधीश-मुकुटाभ्यर्चितांघ्रये ॥12॥ Translation: I bow down to Shäntinätha who possesses the true wealth of knowledge, who is the true giver of peace in the three worlds, and even the crown of Indra worships His feet when Indra bows down to pay obeisance. (12) शांतिः-शांति-करः श्रीमान्‌, शांति दिशतु मे गुरुः, शांतिरेव सदा तेषां, येषां शान्तिर्गृहे गृहे ॥13॥ Translation: Let Lord Shäntinätha, the abode of peace! Please grant me peace too. There always be peace in the house where Shäntinätha is worshipped. (13) उन्मृष्टरिष्ट-दुष्टग्रह-गति-दुःस्वप्न-दुर्निमित्तादिः संपादितहित-संपन्नामग्रहणं जयति शांतेः ॥14॥ Translation: The recitation of the name of the blissful Lord Shäntinätha removes all obstacles, all curses, bad omens, and superstitions. He is, therefore reigning supreme. (14) श्रीसंघ-जगज्‌-जनपद,-राजाधिप-राज-सन्निवेशानाम्‌, गोष्ठिक-पुर-मुख्याणां, व्याहरणैर्व्याहरेच्छन्तिम्‌ ॥15॥ Translation: This ‘Stotra of Peace’ should be recited after mentioning the names of the assembly of Jains (Like what group or organisation it is), the country (the name of the country), king ( his name), all dignitaries at all the religious places (mention a few names), all people living in those religious places, and leaders of the town. (15) श्री श्रमणसंघस्य शांतिर्भवतु, श्री जनपदानां शांतिर्भवतु, श्री राजाधिपानां शांतिर्भवतु, श्री राजसन्निवेशानां शांतिर्भवतु, श्री गोष्ठिकानां शांतिर्भवतु, श्री पौर-मुख्याणां शांतिर्भवतु, श्री पौरजनस्य शांतिर्भवतु, श्री ब्रह्मलोकस्य शांतिर्भवतु। ॐ स्वाहा, ॐ स्वाहा, ॐ श्री पार्श्वनाथाय स्वाहा।16 Translation: Let there be peace to all in the community, to the whole world, to the country, to the kings, to all the dignitaries, to all worshippers, to all the leaders and all people living in the townships. And finally let there be peace in the whole universe (Brahmaloka). Aum Swähä… Aum Swähä; Aum Shri Parshvanäthäy Swähä. (16) एषा शांतिः प्रतिष्ठा-यात्रा- स्नात्रा-द्यवसानेषु, शांतिकलशं गृहीत्वा कुंकुम-चंदन-कर्पूरागरु-धूपवास -कुसुमांजलि-समेतः स्नात्रचतुष्किकायां श्री संघसमेतः शुचि-शुचि-वपुः पुष्प-वस्त्र-चंदना-भरणालंकृतः पुष्पमालां कण्ठे कृत्वा शांतिमृद्घोषयित्वा शांतिपानीयं मस्तके दातव्यमिति।17 Translation: This hymn should be recited at the time of the installation of images in temples, during pilgrimages, and after rituals like the Snätra-poojä. Take a Shänti-kalash (a jar used to perform this ritual) and kumkum, chandan, kapoor, dhoop, incense, flowers ( these are ingredients of a Poojä ) and one should go and stand in the altar (mandap) after having a bath, putting proper garment and appropriate jewellery, and after wearing a garland of flowers. He must recite the hymn and sprinkle the water from a holy jar on everyone’s head. (17) नृत्यन्ति नृत्यं मणिपुष्पवर्षं, सृजन्ति गायन्ति च मंगलानि। स्त्रोत्राणि गोत्राणि पठन्ति, मंत्रान्‌, कल्याणभाजो हि जिनाभिषेके ॥ शिवमस्तु सर्वजगतः, पर-हित-निरता भवन्तु भूतगणाः। दोषाः प्रयान्तु नाशं, सर्वत्र सुखी भवन्तु लोकाः ॥18॥ Translation: Let the whole universe be blessed, Let all beings be engaged in one another’s well being. Let all weaknesses, sickness and faults be diminished and vanish. Let everyone, everywhere, be blissful and at peace. (18) अहं तित्थयरमाया, सिवादेवी तुम्ह नयरनिवासिनी। अम्ह सिवं तुम्ह सिवं, असिवोवसमं सिवं भवतु स्वाहा ॥19॥ Translation: I am Mäyädevi, the mother of the Tirthankara Neminätha, residing in your town and wishing you a happy and auspicious life. May all difficulties disappear on worshipping the Jineshvara. (19) उपसर्गाः क्षयं यांति, छिद्यन्ते विघ्नवल्लयः। मनः प्रसन्नतामेति, पूज्यमाने जिनेश्वरे ॥ सर्व मंगल मांगल्यं, सर्वकल्याण-कारणम्‌। प्रधानं सर्वधर्माणां, जैनं जयति शासनम्‌ ॥20॥ Translation: Let all obstacles perish. Let all difficulties be removed. Our mind attains peace and happiness On worshipping the Jineshvaras. Let the Jain- sashan be victorious Which is most blissful; Cause of everybody’s welfare and First amongst all religions. (20)
