मान्छे बिच्काउनेको पनि हद हुन्छ नि । First, someone creates a song that is told to be on inter-ethnic harmony but is littered by demeaning words towards Dalits. When that community is offended and complains and the song is eventually taken off, then a bunch of self-proclaimed pro-ethnic-harmony-for-the-sake-of-unified-Nepal people insist that the people are being offended for no reason and they should embrace those derogatory words and celebrate the song since they are meant for harmony. Look at this article for example: ekantipur/np/2071/4/11/full-story/393021.html We cannot expect everyone to be enlightened on the subject of casteism and ethnic oppression. But, why those people with the least idea on the topic assume the knowledge and insight and wisdom and publish themselves in major publications? Where does this sense of entitlement come from? The singer Pashupati Sharma, I cannot tell, whether he was intentionally trying to offend Dalits or not. But is is apparent that he is either too ignorant or he cannot escape his subconscious prejudice. Either way, he is not qualified to write a song on ethnic-harmony. Why this insistence that everybody has to accept and celebrate his song?
