正式建桥本来是天大喜事,可我却笑不出来! You may want to laugh at The Klang Third Bridge for having 3 ground breaking ceremonies but I would not. Because I was at the second ceremony before the last elections. The first one was done by taikoh samy vellu and khir toyo in march before the 2008 general elections. To be exact thats 4 days before the polling day on march 8. It was done without anything except a sketch of the bridge. When I was appointed as the exco after the 2008 gen elections, after experiencing the horrible jams in the royal town of Klang, I strongly recommended to mb khalid to build it with state reserves after failing to get a positive reply from the then Works Minister. (After two letters signed by all the elected reps in klang and kapar areas to him and a personal appeal made to HRH Sultan). Khalid finally agreed with me when the state reserves broke the RM 2.6 billion mark in 2012. His plan was to build it first and claim from the Federal Government later. I jokingly said to him and my exco colleagues that it would not be a problem as we are on the way winning Putrajaya in the pending general elections. (We almost made it , winning 52 percent of the total votes cast but only 40 percent of the parliamentary seats in 2013). And now the third ground breaking was done yesterday ie Aug 6. Again by mb Khalid but minus me this time. I was delighted to hear that the bridge would only cost less than 200 million to build by a company called Murni Cergas Sdn Bhd after a tender exercise participated by 23 companies. I thought that was dirt cheap as I remember it would cost more than RM400 million to build! But I cannot feel happy and smile when I was told the company would literally build the bridge and thats it. They said the mb only wanted the bridge without building the connecting roads. WHAT? HOW CAN HE DO THAT? And I stop smiling for a second reason. A little bird whispered to me that the company had a terrible record in building the Penang Second Bridge. WHAT? And the company is being sued after a section of the bridge collapsed and killed a policeman and wounded two civilians. Whats going on Khalid? Read on if you have time. God bless Selangorku. 有此大臣, 天佑雪州!!!
