안녕하세요. 명곡을 찾아서를 진행하고 있습니다. 저는 음악 스토리텔러 김치열입니다. 마지막으로 헨델을 선곡하고자 합니다. 헨델의 대표작은 메시야입니다. 메시야는 가장 곤궁할 무렵에 작곡하였다고 합니다. 헨델은 오페라 등을 작곡하였으나 흥행에서 실패하고 경제적으로 궁핍하였다고 합니다.그때 고아들을 위한 음악회를 개최한다는 것을 듣고 작곡하게 되었다고 합니다. 주제가 성경적인 메시지를 담고 있습니다. 예수 그리스도를 음악적 주제로 관통하고 있습니다. 예언, 탄생, 고난, 부활을 다루고 있습니다.
