1 Corinthians 10:14-17 So then, my dear friends, flee from idolatry. I am speaking to thoughtful people. Consider what I say. Is not the cup of blessing that we bless a sharing in the blood of Christ? Is not the bread that we break a sharing in the body of Christ? Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all share the one bread. Immediately before today’s verse Paul writes, “So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” (NIV) Handling idols requires us to rely upon the Lord, and to look to Him for not only strength, but the way out. When you experience temptation today, know that it is not beyond what you can handle with God as your refuge. Knowing us perfectly God is able to lead us as we are tempted so that we are able to stand firm in Christ Jesus.
