#ElectionsMalawi2014 High Court grants stay order to DPP The High Court on Sunday afternoon granted a stay order to Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) for Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) to go ahead with counting of the votes as well as announce the results. DPP’s lawyer Kalekeni Kaphale confirmed the development saying the stay order means Mec should go ahead with counting and announce the results and not engage themselves into the recounting of votes. The stay order comes barely a day after Mec announced on Saturday night it will recount votes due to serious anomalies that have marred the process. Mec Commissioner Emmanuel Chinkwita Phiri said the anomalies were serious enough to warrant a recount.
