2014 December 24th - Lauderdale Joint xmas eve hit with Perthshire and Grampian huntsabs against Lauderdale. Xmas eve saw us pay a visit to the notoriously elusive Lauderdale Hunt. Armed with a solid tip for the meet at Hexpath Farm we headed out in front of them to pre-spray the nearby woodland. The hunt took off at pace west quickly dissapearing from view. Ploting an expected course we headed across country, eventually picking them up near a large wood on the far side on the hunting area with hounds scattered across adjacent fields and a couple of hare making a clean break to safety. At this point we were approached by the resident land owner who (very politely) asked us to leave. Which we did. In the direction of the hunt :) On our arrival the hunt soon made way leaving us with the charming company of three masked terrier boys on quads who decided they would rather stay with us than take up position with the hunt. Intending to ruin our day since we had ruined theirs we took them for a wee walk that saw one quad stuck in a ditch and another with mechanical noises that sounded ... repairable ;) Finally breaking away from the quads we set back to our vehicles to relocate the hunt who were circling back around to make another run on the large wood. During this time the clock turned 3, the weather turned foul and the hunt turned for home. Sticking around to make sure the hounds came in, we got to meet the huntsman and some of the support with no real issues. All in it was a fast moving, but hassle free day and as best we can tell, no kill.
