2014 Sports Capital Funding – The deadline for local clubs and organisations to register their interest in applying online is this Friday, the 7th February. Briefing on Sports Capital Programme Online Registration: • The application process is now online – the Online Sports Capital Register (OSCAR) • Groups must register at https://sportscapitalprogramme.ie/ by 5pm on Friday 7th February 2014. • Online applications must be completed by 5pm, Friday 28th February 2014. • A guide to filling out the online application form is available at dttas.ie/sport/english/sports-capital-programme Key questions to consider when submitting application: 1. Will it lead to better facilities? Are there already good facilities in place? Whats the added value (e.g. minority sport)? 2. Is it viable – are there matching funds? Can the club afford to maintain it? 3. Will facilities be shared? Are schools or other groups using it? 4. Will the funds be drawn down and facilities used regularly? 5. Does the applicant have more than the required percentage of matching funds? Matching funds: 15% matching funds CLAR areas – 10% RAPID areas – 5% (must have evidence of being in such an area) • Where phased projects, matching funding must be 15% of total, e.g. Where a total phased project valuing €300,000, involves €100,000 in Phase 1, the matching funds must still be €45,000 (15% of €300,000), not €15,000 However, you could just apply for Phase 1 €100,000 and in this case the percentage of matching funds would be €15,000 Valid Applications: • The greater the detail and breakdown of figures, the better chance the application has of success • The bank loan must be an offer. It is not sufficient to say that there is a possibility. • Planning reference number is needed • If exempt from planning, there must be a letter provided from the relevant planning authority to clarify this. • The dedicated amount must be in the account on the dedicated day. Shared Facilities: • Schools can make application with club, but there must be a lease agreement • Shared facilities are encouraged, but only where a formal licence agreement is put in place (template is available on website) • The time allocated to shared use of facilities will be taken into account • The owner of the land must make the application • The bank account number must belong to the applicant group. Maximum Funding: • Maximum funding is €200,000 • Maximum Regionalised funding is €500,000 Note: • Value for money and participation potential of facilities is important, as the overall objective is to get people and communities active
