2014 in Review August saw the BCRL spreading Rugby League up - TopicsExpress

2014 in Review August saw the BCRL spreading Rugby League up into Alberta for the very first time! The BC Bulldogs played the Alberta Broncos Rugby League in front of a good crowd in Edmonton. This was not a cheap exercise for all involved and like any new venture there were plenty of last minute dramas but in the end it was a successful launch into a new Province in Canada. Lawrence Ross was fantastic in his organizing skills to plan this historic event at a great venue. The BC Bulldogs players deserve a special mention after driving for 14 hours to make this event happen, they had their hotel rooms booking cancelled by a greedy hotel manager who decided to sell off their rooms for other bookings! This left the whole team sleeping on the floor of their conference room and getting little sleep before the big game! If this doesnt tell you about the commitment of every player in our team to spread our game in Canada, nothing will ever show it more! The BC Bulldogs won the historic game 54-14 but the score was the least important part of this great event! To add some International class to the event, Alberta even had All Black legend Jerry Collins playing for them & Samoan legend Trevor Leota!
