2014 is the year of the horse in the Chinese calender. THE YEAR OF THE HORSE - Carol Hayward Fell and Friends, is an art exhibition which will comprise painting and drawings of horses by several top Durban artists who have been invited to do works to accompany her ceramic sculptures of horses. The artists are: Ana Pereira de Vlieg, Andrew Verster, Barbara Siedle Martin, Gayle Walters, Heather Conyngham , Jane Digby Blacklaw, Jane Gerrans Oliver, Jeanette Gilkes, Joan Martin, John Smith, Lara Mellon, Lesley Magwood Fraser, Maggie Strachan, Marianne Meijer, Michele Silk Artist, Nicole Pletts, Pascale Chandler, Patricia Ann Douglas, Renee Leslie, Anthony Starkey and Carol Hayward Fell . The exhibition opens on Wednesday 1st October 2014 in Durban at Elizabeth Gordon Gallery in Florida Road, Morningside. Most of the other artists are not “horsey” artists, but highly respected for their individual work. Each has responded with overwhelming enthusiasm to tackle the horse, and for many it is a new subject. The expectation is that this should make their interpretations very exciting as they are able to break boundaries and produce something experimental, showing their individual skills.
