24-HOUR PUBLIC WEATHER FORECAST Issued at: 5:00 PM 16 January 2015 SYNOPSIS: At 4:00 PM today, Tropical Storm “ AMANG” {MEKKHALA} was estimated based on all available data at 475 km East of Borongan City, Eastern Samar (11.5°N, 129.8°E), with maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph. It is forecast to move West at 15 kph. Northeast monsoon affecting Luzon. Forecast: Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas will have occasional rains with gusty winds. Central Visayas and Caraga region will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains. The rest of Visayas and Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains. Thunderstorms are likely to occur over these areas. Cagayan Valley and Cordillera will have cloudy skies with light rains. Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated light rains. Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Northeast will prevail over Luzon and from the Northeast to Northwest over the rest of the archipelago with moderate to rough seas.
