A Confession and some Insights: Early in my professional career I - TopicsExpress

A Confession and some Insights: Early in my professional career I tried to opt out of Social Security in favor of private investment, but I could not claim the one out available, which was religious opposition to S.S. So, as a self-employed person, I paid both ends of the S.S. tax. I now realize that having to pay that tax was an imposed discipline that prevented me from using that money in other tempting but ultimately detrimental ways. As a recipient of a S.S. check each month, I realize that it is the difference between scraping by on my pension and living with a bit of comfort and discretionary money. The government forced me to do what ultimately turned out to be in my best interest, and I resent the lunatic right from bellyaching about entitlements and continually suggesting that S.S. is part of the national debt problem, and trying to undermine the whole process. I, therefore, tend to look at the Affordable Care Act as another of those enforced disciplines that may ultimately help and save people from unnecessary medical related financial disaster. It seems tough going into it, but later there will be gratitude. Think about it!
