A GROUOP CALLED LUCKLESS AND PALE WILL BE PERFORMING IN THE SIP BAR AT THE OAMARU OPERA HOUSE, SUNDAY 9TH NOVEMBER. The New Folk: Luckless and Pales November Tour Following up a critically acclaimed sophomore album ‘Vindication Blues’, Luckless, the project of songwriter Ivy Rossiter, will be touring solo throughout the country this November, arm-in-arm with Wellington folk trio Pales. After the celebrated ‘Vindication Blues’ tour took a four-piece Luckless band through the country’s largest centers in July of 2014, this November tour offers audiences the chance to experience the more introspective, reflective solo side of Luckless. Wrangling a 1964 Silvertone electric guitar and a loop station, Rossiter conjures the ethereal and elusive, and has been lauded by critics throughout the country as a unique, rich and powerful independent voice. Pales brings together Scott Maynard, Mike Isaacs and Rose Blake, a trio of musicians from Wellington’s oft-collaborative folk scene, replete with credits from many other musical endeavours under their collective belts. Armed with banjos, guitars and three angelic voices, Pales will be performing brand new material throughout the tour in anticipation of their imminent follow-up to their 2013 debut ‘It’s Cold Outside’. Their combination of sophisticated and challenging songwriting with three-part vocal harmony promises to melt even the stoniest of souls. Between these acoustic reveries of Pales, and the dynamic vocals and sculpted loops of Luckless, these shows offer audiences the country over the chance to experience the enchanting and challenging music being created outside of the mainstream today. Tour Dates: Thursday 6 November – The Darkroom, Christchurch Friday 7 November – Chick’s Hotel, Dunedin, with The Eastern Saturday 8 November – The Cheeky Llama Café, Invercargill, with Into The East & Amy McLean Sunday 9 November – The Sip Café Bar, Oamaru Opera House, Oamaru Monday 10 November – The Yeti Collective, Kaikoura Tuesday 11 November – Civil & Naval, Lyttelton Wednesday 12 November – Rogue & Vagabond, Wellington Thursday 13 November – Great Job, Palmerston North Friday 14 November – Dome Bar, Gisborne Sunday 16 November – Golden Dawn, Auckland Kudos for Luckless “beautifully controlled, almost sculpted music… but that’s only one side of Luckless, and Rossiter’s other mode is more defiant than defeated… atmospheric and dynamic, and perfectly suited to songs I’d describe as lusty and lyrical, but hardly Luckless.” - Nick Bollinger, Radio New Zealand Kudos for Pales sparse but sophisticated album that has some more than impressive vocal work as well as guitar playing – The Equal Ground For more information, please contact lucklessmusic@gmail luckless.co.nz // pales.bandcamp
