A Glance at No Mans Land Museum Released by OPSU Campus Communications Goodwell, Okla. — Beginning last April, many passersby, especially those of us who are Goodwell residents, have watched as ground has been broken, a concrete slab poured and eventually brick laid on the outside of the addition to the No Mans Land Museum. Now, some may see the addition as a project finished but to Museum Curator, Sue Weissinger, this is just the start. With an additional 7,500 square feet to work with, the museum may be best described as a work in progress which is exactly how Weissinger believes it should be. Weissinger said, We want things to evolve continually with visitors being able to see different things each time they visit. The museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. On Saturday, the hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free and donations are accepted. Currently, many of the exhibits have been moved into their own designated area and care is being taken to organize each display appropriately. On Feb. 14 at noon, No Mans Land Museum will host Michael J. Hightower, PhD, as he presents a program regarding banking in Oklahoma. Hightower is an independent historian and principal researcher for the Oklahoma Bank and Commerce History Project of the Oklahoma Historical Society. An Oklahoma City native, Hightower is the descendent of a businessman who settled in the Oklahoma Territory in the 1890s and much of his work focuses on Americas Frontier experience, banking and commercial history. For more information about the No Mans Land Museum or questions regarding the program please contact Sue Weissinger at 580-349-2670 or [email protected].
