A Green Party candidate for Ireland South in the upcoming European elections says shed like to see full community involvement in a planned windfarm for West Waterford. GE Energy Financial Services has confirmed on its own website that it hopes to have completed a 34 megawatt windfarm at Barranafaddock near Ballyduff by the second quarter of 2015. Its one of two windfarms that GE has acquired from the developer Element Power, with the other farm to be located in County Donegal. GE Energy Financial Services is one of the worlds biggest investors in wind power and currently operates in 9 countries. Grace OSullivan whos based in Tramore, says shes seen other areas where windfarms projects have been driven by the locality and she thinks this should happen in West Waterford She says we need to take note of how other countries develop windfarms in terms of job creation
