A LOVING GOD,PERHAPS, A LOVING PRIESTHOOD, NEVER! Heresy and blasphemy, Who do they offend? Is God so rigid, so humourless That everybody must conform. Endless praise. Endless worship. Why? Is God insecure? Has he no sense of humour? Does he fear competition? It seems that it not God, But organised religion, Aided and abetted By a compliant state, Who are to blame. God is beyond threat, But his self declared Minions are not. The retribution Against the alleged sinners Serves to keep them In power. It also satisfies Their blood lust. The inquisition was humane. Don’t confess, Your guilt is irrelevant, You burn. Confess, You will be garrotted, But you will still burn. The priests loved Burning women Their body fat Crackled better. What was heresy yesterday, Is scientific knowledge Today. Has God changed his mind? I don’t know the identity of God, But Darwin is his prophet.
