A Letter to the President As A Response to the Executive Mansion Response to the MPC Leader Press Conference The rants of a Looter Madam President, We – members of Liberian United to Reform Liberia , are deeply saddened by the adventures of your Press Secretary, Matthew Piah; whose only work experience has been under your administration, Liberia’s most corrupt, unaccountable, unrepresentative and irresponsible government ever; dared to speak about one of Liberia’s current success stories, Mr. Simeon Freeman, in the way and manner he did; that was most uncultivated for a boy whose only understanding of government is under an extremely unproductive regime. During your speech to the joint session of the US congress, a much larger audience, you categorized Liberia’s past leaders, as “irresponsible, corrupt, unaccountable and unrepresentative”. Were you disrespecting them or describing the actions that expose Liberians to so much misery and pain? If you were disrespecting them, as your unpolished Press Secretary – Mathew Piah – thinks; then, you have sadly introduced vulgarism in the Liberian political culture. We do not share his thoughts because we understand the context in which you spoke but we also do appreciate the mindset that led to the selection of boys like himself; who have no working experience, have built nothing for themselves, and enjoy living off the taxes paid by men like Mr. Freeman; through whose entrepreneurial adventure, hundreds of Liberians are gainfully employed. Buffoons like Piah, hungry for recognition and relevance but lacking the capacity and substance to be entrepreneurial, will adore you and close their eyes to the irresponsibility of leadership in Liberia, a situation that in your own words; exposed us to years of mayhem and could cause another round of war. When you spoke about the irresponsibility of leadership – as practiced in Liberia – you spoke in the context of – the bad actions of leaders or bad governance. Bad governance is not just terrible but very wicked. The lives of millions of people rest on the actions of a leader. When leadership as practiced in Liberia does the following: 1. Spend 75% of state resources on recurrent government operations as you are doing 2. Increase the size of government bureaucracy consistently as you are doing 3. Recognize that the Agricultural sector employs the largest number of persons but invest nothing in the sector as you are doing 4. Pump millions of Liberian dollars in the economy without creating an equilibrium between the two currencies, thereby increasing inflation as you are doing 5. Does nothing to reduce the current account balance as you are doing 6. Maintain a very high capital reserve requirement as a de-risking mechanism, which in term increases commercial bank lending cost in an already non-performing economy as you are doing 7. Institute no clear educational development agenda as you are doing 8. Teach us young people disciplines that will not employ us in our own country as you are doing 9. Attract investments that create jobs we are unable to exploit as is the case 10. Our hospitals are mortuaries as is the case 11. People coexist with rats and roaches as the case 12. Prostitution have become a trade as is the case 13. Joblessness is a way of life as is the case 14. Rhetoric replaces sound economic agenda as is the case Then such leaders are irresponsibly governing and exposing the lives of millions of her citizens to diseases, early death, profound misery and untold suffering; a recipe for prolong civil unrest and mayhem. We are very concern about the issues raised by Mr. Freeman in his very eloquent critique of your annual message on several fronts: A. Your government’s repeated awareness of the situation classified as challenges B. Actions you embraced to further exacerbate the challenges C. Your consistent failure to take any associated action to resolve the so called challenges D. The resultant impact of the failure of action and E. How that exposes us to great danger at the expense of your Presidency We are even further alarmed by your choice of personnel to help steer the country out of so huge a challenge;a novice like – Matthew Piah – whose huge mental limitation, disabled his innovative capacity and enabled him to be easily overwhelmed; thereby resulting to vulgarism and extreme anger in the face of heated intellectual exchanges, where substance, for the good of the people, is being discussed. You are in full knowledge that this little boy – Matthew – changed his name to – Jerelinmek. You do know that people usually change last names for historical purposes but a man changing his biological name upon entry to Monrovia, from a more masculine name to a feminine twist, is a novice and ignorant bigot and certainly, these are the kinds of people you prefer to help you to abuse this country and its people. Madam President, we have profiled you over the period and noticed you are increasingly threatened by competent people. No wonder you steer far away from men like – Mr. Simeon Freeman – who have demonstrated huge understanding of our challenges and at every interval, proffer good alternatives to your style of bad governance. Madam President, are you any different from radical clerics who exploit the ignorance and innocence of young men, burdened by poverty and convert them to suicide bombers? We can but only wonder. Aren’t we living the same scenario under your administration where you have successfully recruited boys like Matthew – mentally bankrupt, psychologically destabilised, no understanding of the intricacies of governance and desperate for political relevance – as political suicide bombers – to insult well-meaning and decent breeds like Mr. Freeman? We can but only say, Madam President; your choice of personnel reveals that extreme poverty, hopelessness and depravation will remain your legacy if you do not change course by firing societal misfits – suicide bombers and fiscal miscreants – who have mastered the act of generating hopelessness through exploitation. Watch this space for more letters to you on your hired – suicide bombers – and thanks. Email:coyies2004@gmail Cell numbers: +231886661061/+231776585152
