A MIND-BLOWING & BEAUTIFUL MUSIC VIDEO of GOD ONLY KNOWS for the BBCs music launch! I still have PET SOUNDS (Brian Wilson-The Beach Boys) on vinyl-- an incredible landmark album that introduced layered sounds, melancholy drifts and genius musical arrangements into the rock genre. Its so ironic to me that--with decades of great songs & artists from the UK--the BBC picked their showcase song from a band out of Hawthorne (LA). PET SOUNDS was so far ahead of its time (released in 1966, a year ahead the psychedelic & mesmerizing Sgt. Peppers LHCB. Pet Sounds was never given proper promotion because it was believed it wouldnt appeal to the younger female audience. Yet, the UK audience & radio knew it was special the moment they heard it and it reached #2 on the UK charts. So what is it about the UK that they have and still embrace and seek out new sounds, bands and styles of American rock? What happened to American radio? When Lunden Reign toured the UK last year (and with little knowledge of who we were or our songs) we were welcomed and treated with an amazing response to our live shows and music. We met new lifelong friends (like Jady Shaw & Jamie Lovatt -ROMANCE), that took us under their wing. Time does change everything and maybe rock artists are no longer defined by their albums, but only by their singles. However, this has been said before, that is until: NEVERMIND (Nirvana) knocked out hair band singles, The RAMONES (same) came out, LONDON CALLING (The Clash), The VELVET UNDERGROUND & NICO (same), GET The KNACK (The Knack) knocked disco loops from the charts, ELVIS PRESLEY (same) knocked out bubble-gum pop singles and of course PLEASE, PLEASE ME (The Beatles). Thank God AMOEBA Music Store is still around for those of us who still love albums (and love to make them too).
