A Quandary of sorts: There are hymns, both new and less so, which have an excellent message about inclusion and the boundless nature of Gods love. But, I am hesitant to use them because of the conspicuous replacement of strong biblical/theological language with purely secular language about social justice. This troubles me because such hymnody implies that there is no theological language that can adequately communicate the ideals of inclusion. This in turn carries the troubling implication that these values are not Christian values. Thoughts?
