A Taste of Lebanon Lives On in Kabul FULL STORY: a.smartmailpro/webv/mwjmdtxq1c Two weeks ago, the world heard in horror of the cruel attack on the Taverna Lebanese Restaurant in which defenseless, innocent Afghans and foreigners were mercilessly mowed down by extremist insurgents. It was widely reported at the time that the owner of the Taverna, 60-year-old Kamel Hamade, had spoken of closing his restaurant sometime in 2014 and helping his Afghan staff to open their own Afghan-run “Lebanese” restaurant. What was not reported was that Kamel had, in fact, already begun supporting this project.
