A Walk to Remember ManavRachna International University was today, host to 20 Foreign National students from Congo and Nigeria. As a part of the unique Campus-Walk, the group gained first-hand information about different course offerings, infrastructure and facilities at MRIU. A warm welcome awaited them right at the onset when Manav Rachna’s own special band “Diverging Dreams” broke into Heavy Metal and Rock to set the students at ease. A batch of 7 Congolese studentsfrom Manav Rachna International University met up with the ‘Visitors’, contributing largely to the ‘feel-good factor’. Nikhil Raina of the Faculty of International Programmes, Manav Rachna International University, struck an instant rapport with the Foreign National Students and helped break the ice with them. Once the group was settled in at the A-Block Auditorium, Dr. Anil Sareen, Professor and Dean, Faculty of International Programmes, gave them a heartwarming welcome. This was followed by a vivid video presentation of the MRIU College life, its culture and celebrations by Professor I.K. Kilam, Dean, Student’s Welfare. The Foreign students were soon taken on a tour of the campus, getting glimpses of its world-class infrastructure. They were given an opportunity to look up FET’s Biotech, ECE and Mechanical Labs. In a novel one-of-a-kind experience, the foreign students visited the Manav Rachna Community Radio Station where its Director Mr. Mukesh Gambhir gave them an introductory lecture in a session also attended by Col. (R) K.S. Gujral, Director, International Education Centre. They were also intrigued by the Dr O.P. Bhalla Innovation and Incubation Centre and hugely impressed by the Central Library and International Hostel. Their final stop at the shooting range wrapped up the Campus Walk session. The whole visit was put together and conceptualized by Ms Hitankshi Thukral, Deputy Director, Corporate Communication Centre. The Foreign students were handed food boxes and Manav Rachna marketing collaterals, but what they got from the experience was much more than words can say. Many of them were already looking forward to coming back to the campus again. It was thanks to the collective efforts of Manav Rachna’s dignitaries, Faculty and Staff, the guests carried back fond memories. Manav Rachna has been known to welcome foreign students from across the world with a view to expanding international and multicultural understanding. The University’s culturally diverse community includes students from around 15 countries. Helping overseas students in their transition, the International Education Centre (IEC) provides dedicated support through an international students’ welfare committee. It looks into all personal, administrative and academic issues/problems of the foreign students at the University during their induction at the time of joining and later during their stay as MRIU students.
