A bighorn sheep that escaped from the Los Angeles Zoo has died - TopicsExpress

A bighorn sheep that escaped from the Los Angeles Zoo has died after being struck by a driver who fled the scene. Police Lt. Richard Parks said the sheep was hit in the Los Feliz section of the city near the entrance to Griffith Park. Zoo spokeswoman April Spurlock said zoo staff members tranquilized the sheep with a dart to bring it back to its habitat, but the animal died at the scene. She said it is believed the animal was fatally injured from being hit by the car, but the cause of death wont be confirmed until a necropsy is performed. An investigation is underway to determine how the sheep escaped.
