A bill sponsored by Assemblywoman Nily Rozic (D-Queens) would require phone companies that offer shared or family plans to waive early-termination fees — as much as $350 in the case of Verizon — if one of the lines is used by someone who becomes a victim of domestic violence. Sponsors of the bill say domestic-violence victims are often trapped in family plans where they are constantly harassed by their batterer. “We want to put a stop to that,” Rozic said.
