A bit of advice to Velo-fellows, dont but your good Velocette - TopicsExpress

A bit of advice to Velo-fellows, dont but your good Velocette books on ebay a week before X-mas, that is apparently the one time of the year when men are not shopping for themselves. I got the three books below and the Haynes manual at great prices. (The Haynes manual is by the prolific Jeff Clew. Im collecting his stuff as long as its cheap.) I bought the three below just to get Ivan Rhodes book, it fetches serious money most of the time and I figured I might be able to use the other two to make up some of the difference. Having had Velocette: Technical Excellence Exemplified for two weeks now, I can see why its so coveted. Mr Rhodes writing style is much more personable than other Velo chroniclers and it reads as though the technical details are integral part of the story of the bikes and of the people in the family run firm that built them. All of the technical and production data is laid out in easy to read charts in the back and the book is full of great photographs and illustrations as well. I wound up giving Always In The Picture to my friend and Velocettist, David Stuebe, who lost his library (along with most other things) in a house fire X-mas eve. Ive never seen the book on the bottom which is Service Manual published by Bruce Main-Smith in 1975. Seems pretty good, I like to see the pictures inside of things. Im sure there was a need for it in the Seventies, possibly superseded by later more detailed publications. I hope everyone else enjoyed the holidays and wish you lots of opportunities for Velocetting in 2015.
