A friend of mine from grade school wrote an article about the corporal punishment we were subjected too in Catholic School in 1970s. The story is focused on the cruelty of one nun and a specific day in the 4th grade. The main character is a skinny girl with brown eyes and glasses. I will not tell you the whole story but I will tell you the skinny girl won. I spoke to my friend yesterday for the first time in more than a decade. She said she thought we were our truest selves at 10 and than asked me if I was still brave? My answer was Yes. I was told the mean nun never taught again after that year. The skinny girl had saved years of other skinny girls from every having to be beaten by a bad person. I again reaffirm my vow to this page and all the little girls that come after me, I will continue to fight the bad people that try to harm you with their ridiculous sense of morality and hatred of your basic rights.
