A little information. The reasons behind fund raising for a custom made specialist trike. Finn was diagnosed with a rare medical condition after becoming poorly at birth, little did we know how serious it was. He has septo optic dysplasia, consisting of midline defects ( abnormal pituitary gland), endocrine deficiencies and under developed optic nerves causing visual impairment. Finn has most hormones missing causing various problems, diabetes insipidus, adrenal insufficiency, hypothyroid, growth hormone deficiency. When Finn began walking we noticed he had terrible stiffness in his left leg. Investigations found he had high muscle time and this with therapy loosened the muscle, but the reason behind was cerebal palsy, luckily presenting in a mild form but none the less it still causing mobility problems for Finn. He gets tired and Im unsure if it causes pain. It can make him fall over and unsteady on his feet. Im hoping that the trike, will excercise his legs. Not only to help the tone but for fitness too. And to be a better more fun mode of transport than his push chair. We can use it for trips to the park, nursery, going away to shows etc. Also to stop us and the nursery staff picking him up, he is heavy!! Its took a while but Im happy to share his story, I have to research a lot and pester various professionals to get the appropriate care and treatment for him and for those who know him, he has lots of determination and happiness to help him Along the way.
