A man has been charged after he allegedly damaged a car and spat on police at Central Railway Station. About 6pm yesterday (Thursday 12 June 2014), a 48-year-old man approached a red Volkswagen Golf parked at the station and allegedly scratched every panel with a key, causing extensive damage. It’s alleged he then ran away and jumped on the railway tracks, crossed five sets of tracks, before climbing onto a platform, where he was arrested by officers from the Police Transport Command. Police will allege the man spat in the face of an officer as they were escorting him from the platform. He was taken to Sydney City Police Station, where he was charged with assault police, damage/destroy property over $15,000, go onto running lines and failure to comply with a move on direction. The man was given strict bail conditions to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday 1 July 2014.
