A story of a hurt lamb and the process of being restored. Many hurt sheep and lambs surround this shepherd. His flock does not consist of the most beautiful or prized sheep, but to Him they are His everything. The lambs that have been hurt are near to His heart and He nurses them back to health. He is so moved by those that have encountered injustice, pain, and brokenness because He too knows of it. He holds a rod not to bring fear to the sheep and lambs, but to protect and guide them, and to create a safe place for them to graze. One lamb in particular has spent time outside of His care and flock. It has learned that life away from the shepherd only leads to much pain and sorrow. In returning, it wasnt so sure as to how the shepherd would react since it had been on its own for so long. Surprisingly the shepherd picked it up, bandaged its wounds, and held it near to His heart. The shepherd placed it among other strong sheep who could show it where and how to eat the best of the land. One day the shepherd came to the lamb and gave it a new name... From Forsaken to Loved and Wanted. Often the Lamb would ponder the time it spent out of the shepherds care and would begin to feel deep despair as it reminisced the memories that brought such pain and problems. The lamb would want to isolate and withdraw from the strong sheep because, as it looked around in comparison at the health and wholeness of those who had been in the shepherds care for years, much guilt would arise. For it still had bandages, and it was much skinnier showing that malnutrition had taken its obvious toll. Would it ever look strong? Would it ever be whole? Day by day it ate from the best of the land. As it stayed within the boundaries the shepherd made, and as it spent time following the older sheep, the bandages did fall. It became healthy and whole, to the point of being able to one day take another hurt lamb and show them where to eat, and how to be restored. And all the while the shepherd watched with much joy as He smiled upon this process of healing. He never quit searching for the hurt lambs. He knew there was plenty in the land for each one to eat and get strength from. And the lamb found out that those who looked so strong and healthy had their own stories of the shepherd bandaging their wounds and bringing them to wholeness. So the fascination moved from the sheep to the shepherd. For there had never been a shepherd that wanted the hurt and broken sheep before. Who was this man so full of compassion for each one? It would spend the rest of its days at the feet of the shepherd listening to His words that brought life, wholeness, and healing. From the beginning, the shepherd could look past the lambs wounds and see who it would be.
