ACCESSMENT OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT IN OGUN STATE. Local government (LG) is believe to be the third tier of government and one of d most important charaterics is dat LG is the government nearer to the people. So it is evidence that LG knows or wil know the problem of the people but the question is how viable is our local government in supply some esstential facilities to his people since the swearing in of this present government. In Ogun state today,local government are just shadows of themselves. For instance,the amount allocated to Ijebu North East local government from federal purse is over 100 million but the LG wil receive around 30million from the state goernment which is not even enough to pay d staff salaries and this illegal deduction is made from all LG in Ogun state In d past,each LG receive allocation of excess crude oil every three month which is mostly use to embark on unforgetable project for its people and it also use to pay outstandin debt & this local people stil have the memories of the differnt project embark upon. But for two good years now,LG has receive notin and d federal government do disburse the money out. Where is the money side-funded to? I wil agree with the governor if he gave reason that the only reason he is not disbursing the money is that some LG chairman wil mismanage the fund but my question for the state government is how can we be sure that the state is not mismanaging the local fund. Or perhaps,what project has the state government embark upon in Ijebu North East local government since May 2011. So where is d money they deduct going to. Local government in Ogun state has been turned to area offices if you understand what i meant. The only way forward to this poor performance of the local government and negligent of our local people is AUTOMONY OF THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT. Thank you
