AIR POWER DISCUSSION:ANSWER How Do You Know Whether A Prophecy Is True Or Not! There are several things you can use to know whether a prophecy is true or not and I will like to point out a few. 1. The word of God. Peter had a supernatural encounter with Jesus on the mount of transfiguration. Moses and Elijah appeared to Jesus and there came a voice from heaven which said Jesus was the son of God. Peter recounted this incident and said the old testament scriptures the sure word of prophecy was the litmus test of prophetic experiences. It is higher than any prophetic experience and must be used to prove any prophecy.He called it the sure word. This means its infallible and not subject to error like prophecy. 2 Peter 1:19-21 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts.... For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2. Time. The word of God is durable so sometimes it is important to leave prophecy to time. If its from God it will always be fresh on your heart. Sometimes prophecy fades with time and this may be because its not from the Lord. Personally, I sometimes use this key to test prophecy. 1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 3. Personal conviction. Its important to listen to your heart when you receive a prophecy. God directs us by our convictions. This anointing: called conviction is placed in our hearts, it guides us to know whether something is true or not. 1 John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
