[ARTIST TALK: THINK !N PERFORMANCE Part 2] Wednesday 9 July 2014, at Brunei Gallery, SOAS, University of London The KCCUK invites you to the showcase of and workshop with Ensemble SINAWI a Korean fusion musical band, as part of SEOUL IN THE CITY at THE CITY OF LONDON FESTIVAL 2014 A showcase of Ensemble SINAWI, a fusion band combining traditional Korean folk music and Pansori with a contemporary edge to create a sound that it is entirely new. Authentic Korean sounds are juxtaposed in the context of chamber-jazz to create new and authentically Korean improvisational musical forms – an extraordinary new form of traditional music for the 21st century. After the showcase the members demonstrate traditional Korean instruments, such as Gayageum and Janggu, and have a Q&A session with the audience led by Professor Keith Howard of the Music Department of SOAS, University of London.
