Accused dog-thrower charged with animal cruelty SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A man who was caught on camera tossing a puppy over a fence made his first court appearance Thursday. Gary Sartor pleaded not guilty at the East County Courthouse to charges of animal cruelty and abandonment. Sartor was arrested on Monday after authorities received a tip in September. His trial begins December 11. The Ramona resident faces up to six months in jail if convicted, and $20,000 in fines. The puppy seen in the video, which was filmed back in August, was not injured and has since been adopted. A judge Thursday banned Sartor from owning a pet until after his case is resolved.
