After almost 10 months of waiting, Jeff Tan of Excellar finally - TopicsExpress

After almost 10 months of waiting, Jeff Tan of Excellar finally delivered my Limited Edition Sportster CS seats from Recaro Germany. These were customized to look almost like the stock GVF oem seats with Alcantara leather in the center areas and matching red stitching. These were shipped to me pre-assembled with the baseframes which when attached have the same seat height as stock. Installation can be done as DIY. Tools needed would be a 14mm socket to remove the 4 rail bolts per seat as well as a Torx T50 bit to remove the seatbelt anchor. Our local units do not have the passenger seat occupant detection unit unlike the USDM versions so this makes installing aftermarket seats less complicated. As you probably know, the GVF oem seats have side airbags so the wirings need to be addressed otherwise the airbag warning indicator will be triggered and will render the SRS system incapable of functioning properly during an emergency situation. Recaro Japan provides a resistor that is tapped or soldered to the two airbag wires per seat. This tricks the system into thinking that an airbag seat is still present. I did a little research and the resistor used is a 3.3ohm (not 3.3K) 1/4 watt item that was readily available at my local radio electronics store for P0.50 each. As much as possible, I do not want to cut, splice, or solder into existing oem harness so what I did was bend the wires of the resistor to resemble an inverted narrow U then insert it into the middle 2 pins of the airbag connector. This hack worked perfectly and I secured it with a ziptie and tucked it away safely underneath. No faults or codes triggered. Hope this helps those who plan on going through the aftermarket seat route. Thanks for looking!
