After nearly 10 years of research and searching for funding for a historic marker designating the history of Paddy Hill School, the sign was officially unveiled at a ceremony this morning, Oct 31, 2014. I would like to think the William Pomeroy Foundation for providing the funds (they have funded over 200 historic markers in 42 counties across New York State, including 78 this year). Kathy Graupman past principal of Paddy Hill School for encouraging this project; Tom Cesario, MCDOT for providing the Right of Way maps of the area; Alan Mueller, Town Historian at the Greece Historical Society for finding the original 1823 school records; the staff at the Monroe County Clerks Office, for helping me locate the 1839 deed; Barbara Deane-Williams, superintendent of GCSD for her support and granting permission to place the sign; Jody Button & the maintenance crew at GCSD, for preparing the site and installing the sign; Michelle Marini, deputy Town supervisor for organizing the event and supervisor Bill Reilich for being the host and a special thank you to all who braved the inclement weather to attend the ceremony. ...........BILL SAUERS
