After nearly 11 months of work, the New Ronald McDonald House® - TopicsExpress

After nearly 11 months of work, the New Ronald McDonald House® near Central DuPage Hospital donor wall is finally completed! The video shows the installation of the Into the Woods” 9 x 24 foot donor wall that I designed using original watercolor art by artist, Craig Lueck. He provided artwork for various branches, leaves, landscapes, flowers and critters that I designed into the final composition. From there, I passed the final composition off to designer, Guy Giunta, who prepped the art for 100s of feet of cut lines for the printing and CNC router process. The birdhouses, animals and trees is printed primarily on ½ MDF boards and router cut by Brainstorm Inc.,Kansas City. The backlit film of the sky is printed and installed by Right Way Signs, Chicago. The finished work is mounted on tempered glass with the help of Ronald McDonald House volunteers. The LED backlighting fixtures by Philips Color Kinetics is programed by RGB Lights, Chicago. I designed the light show to play 24 hours a day, starting with an interpretation of the dawn that proceeds to a day sky followed by a sunset look. Three times a day a Northern Lights effect plays to wow the guests. The new house features 12 private guest rooms with private baths, and was designed to create a nurturing and supportive ‘home away from home’, with comfortable living and play spaces, a spacious dining and kitchen area where volunteers prepare meals, a library, and laundry facilities. The House is located near the Central DuPage Hospital (CDH) Campus in Winfield, Illinois and serves families with pediatric patients being treated at CDH, Delnor Hospital or the CDH Cancer Center and the CDH Proton Center in Warrenville.
