Ah, one last tidbit of info, for tonight: Tristan is actually - TopicsExpress

Ah, one last tidbit of info, for tonight: Tristan is actually 10-12 years old, my cousin did some digging, to find out his history, and it turns out there are people remembering him as far as 10 years ago. He was bought from mountain-men (mocani) at a staggering 1000Euro price, back when he was a young stud, and he was used for lumbering and cart-pulling. He is remembered because he is exceptionally strong, being able to pull entire tree trunks, as well as (how they brag about it there) pulling an entire cart uphill with the brakes on. He seems to have gotten his injuries (the last version I heard) because, when he was a stud, a 15-year old hit him with a whip and Tristan fought back, trying to bite him, so the kid took an axe and hit him in the eye, making it spill over. So when he saw what he did, he presumably tried to finish killing him off and hit him with the axe again, breaking only the tooth. The beating that followed is........well, I have no words. After this, he was gelded, and hes been sold around for many years now, with no paperwork to document it, so only God knows how much tender care hes received over the years....The last owner, who sold him to my cousin, didnt treat his ankle wound for presumably a long time, so that should be telling enough. :( My cousin told me last night, when I called to confirm that he isnt to be sold anymore, that hes ours now (:D how I LOVE saying that, because we did it together, youre all now part-owners of a beautiful soul), that hes become a young foal again. Because hes been free from cart-pulling duties, hes been eating a lot, and enjoying the good life, so he now knows that the food coming IS FOR HIM, and he neighs and makes delighted sounds. My cousin took him to a pasture while he was mowing someones vineyard weeds, and everyone was shocked to see him eat almost 4 carts full of grass in one afternoon. :) He loves his new horseshoes, and walks much, much better! He hasnt put on a lot of weight in two weeks, because he is a bit older, and also because hes already so big to begin with, but my cousin says he looks much more present and happier. Even him, the hardened horse trader, has fallen for him and keeps asking me if Im sure hell end up okay, because of all the horses hes seen, he deserves it. :) Sorry for the rant, but I just wanted to share a bit of my joy with you. :> https://facebook/photo.php?fbid=10152120710885671&set=gm.303269096507005&type=1&theater
