PRESS RELEASE Introduction Revolutionary greetings to you from all Nigerian Students across all campuses in the Southwest region of Nigeria, under the auspices of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Zone D and the Oyo State Joint Campus Committe (JCC) of the association. The leadership of the association deem it imperative to register her voice on some fundamental issues in Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole. As it is opined that, “keeping quiet in the face of injustice is absolute cowardice.” Oyo State “Ibadan house of Horror” On the 25th of March 2014, the whole world awoke to the shocking realization of a kidnappers’ den, located in Soka Area of Ibadan, where gruesome atrocities were committed against humanity which included missing Nigerian students from our campuses. It was rumoured that one Alhaji Gbadamosi was licensed by the Oyo State Government to use the place as a resettlement camp for destitute beings and madmen. We hereby implore the Oyo state Government to explain her contractual relationship with Alhaji Gbadamosi as her silence on the matter is being taken as compromise with Alhaji Gbadamosi. We also call on the Nigeria Police Force and the State Security Service to find Alhaji Gbadamosi so as to explain his role and complicity in the “Ibadan House of Horror” palaver ASUP / COEASU Strike Nigerian Students in Southwest Nigeria condemn the brazen attack on protesting member of ASUP and COEASU in Abuja a week ago. This showcase the insensitivity of the Federal Government to the plight of our lecturers which is mortgaging the future of our students in Polytechnics and Colleges of Education. We demand that the request of our striking lecturers be attended to for the sake of our students; else the Nigerian students will take to the street again. Kidnapped Girls in Chibok, Borno State We implore the Federal Government, Borno State Government, WAEC and the school management to provide information on the actual numbers of students kidnapped and also that the Federal Government should facilitate the quick rescue of the students from the den of the culprits. Also, we call on the security operatives to question Governor Ibrahim Shettima on his involvement in a directive stopping the transfer of the kidnapped girls to secure territory for their examinations which might have averted the unfortunate incidence of their kidnap. Finally, we implore all parties concerned to stop politicising the kidnap of the innocent Nigerian students in Chibok, Borno State and rather harness all efforts towards the rescue of these innocent girls. God Bless NANS! God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria! Signed Oloja Olanrewaju. (Assistant Gen. Sec., NANS Zone D) 07039713663 Akinmulegun K.
