Allāh is not obligated to do anything, in contrary to the claim - TopicsExpress

Allāh is not obligated to do anything, in contrary to the claim of the mu^tazila. They said Allāh is obligated to do what is best for the slave and this is blasphemy. The scholars said to the mu^tazila if Allah was obligated to create what is best for the slave then Allāh would have created us in paradise, because that is what is best for us. Abu Hasan Al-ash^ariyy before he became a scholar from Ahlu Sunnah he used to sit in the sessions of the mu^tazila. He asked his uncle (who was the head of the mu^tazila) what do you say about three people: A believer, a blasphemer, and a little child, what is their situation like in the hereafter? He said: The blasphemer will be in hellfire, the believer will be in paradise and the little child will be in paradise. He said would the child be in the same rank as the believers? His uncle then said no, the Muslim deserves a higher rank because of the good deeds he done. Abu Hasan said: Then the little child would say: O Allah why didnt you give me a longer life like the Muslim so I would be in his rank also? His uncle then said: He would be told Allāh knew eternally that if the child grew up, he would become a kafir which is not better for him. Abu Hasan said to him: Then the kafir would say: O Allāh why didnt you make me die when I was a child?(since they believe Allāh is obligated to do what is best for the slave). Then his uncle was silent. Allāh is not obligated to do anything.
