Almost a year and a half ago, my dad was diagnosed with brain - TopicsExpress

Almost a year and a half ago, my dad was diagnosed with brain cancer. It is something that I never thought would affect my family, and was one of the hardest things to accept as my new reality. While the tumor has caused my dad to loose function and mobility in the left side of his body, his treatments have kept him stable. He has exercises he does daily to help build back some muscle mass and strength, and I am amazed at his progress. He seems to be walking better every time I see him. I knew that I wanted my first tattoo to be for my dad. He has a body full of tattoos, and he got me involved in tattoo culture when I was just a kid. His very first tattoo was a teeny-tiny ant on his wrist (which he thought, at the time, was a spider). I thought it was appropriate that my tattoo incorporated an ant. My tattoo reminds me every day of my dad. It gives me a sense of pride knowing that I have a beautiful tattoo, and that my dad is here to see it. When I look at my tattoo, I remember the hard reality that my dad has cancer, but also the beauty in it – that my relationship with my dad is better than ever, and I’m so happy we have this time together.
