Alright, someone is going to have to explain this to me. Got an EOB from my crappy insurance company. It was for a charge for an assistant during Lynns hernia surgery. While the insurance reduced it to a discounted/contracted rate and paid $65 of it, they also said they dont allow the charge and that we have to pay the surgical ASSISTANT $1673. Which is $127 short of being 3 times what the actual surgeon got paid. Not to mention it is a charge that the insurance initially disallowed but said we didnt have to pay any of it so the hospital revised the code and resubmitted it along with another pending claim that I cant see yet. What the $&@$!!! Whats the purpose of preauthorization etc and of having insurance at all. Did I mention that the charge for surgery was 3 times what they said it would be? How can you underestimate that big. But it put him over his out of pocket max now theyre going to just disallow every claim? Thanks a lot. So glad we pay $800 a month for this coverage.
