Alright, this latte salute nonsense is out of control. Consider that I am neither an advocate or an opponent of Obama. But I think its necessary to acknowledge the history and even policies behind salutes. It is not required or under any protocol for a President to salute. It didnt even become a trend until Reagan. Commander in chief is still a civilian position. It is not a military rank. Therefore a salute is not required. Even if he were of military rank, a salute is not required if the senior or the subordinate is wearing civilian clothes. Which is the President 100% of the time. Lets not forget that there have been half assed salutes by others. There have also been impeccable salutes by others, including Obama. Its really trivial to throw a tantrum over someone not doing something theyre not even required to do. Everyone does realize there is serious business going on in the world, right? Just a few illustrations....
