Although I believe that we mere mortals would do well to - TopicsExpress

Although I believe that we mere mortals would do well to love/serve God as our heavenly King, I understand we each are (or should be) sovereign with respect to each other, and we can (and should) charter Earthly governments in bottom-upward fashion to help us expertly to defend this sovereignty from each other, as well as from themselves. Im grateful that Americas virtuous wise founders understood such principles and, accordingly, chartered an excellent political system for us with many safeguards to reduce its potential to become tyrannical. I believe that their results was inspired, I feel amazed how close this charter comes to perfection, and I worry about any proposals that would stray too significantly from its original design. I also worry about recent efforts by both left-wing and right-wing Americans to host a Constitutional convention, since I suspect that such a convention (in our nations present political circumstances) would do more to replace this inspired charter with something far more socialistic and/or fascistic than to perfect it. And I believe that we dont need this charter perfected nearly as much as we need our elected public officers to keep their solemn oath-of-office to uphold it. So, I encourage my fellow Americans to reject such calls for a Constitutional convention at this time in history. If we believe that U.S. Constitution should be amended, then lets please stick with the usual process for doing so. Heres a New American article about this matter.
