Am I still in China?...Spending two weeks in China gave me a renewed appreciation for how America’s government was designed to protect the freedoms of its citizens, not take them away. It’s why I continue to update you on the most egregious example of government trampling on a family I’ve seen, the curious case of Justina Pelletier and the People’s Republic of Massachusetts. Justina is the Connecticut teenager who was essentially kidnapped by the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families, which denied her medical treatment, religious services or family visits of more than an hour a week under armed supervision. Recently, Justina turned 16, and was allowed a birthday party with friends she’d been barred from seeing for over 15 months. Her parents continue to comply with the so-called reunification plan. Meanwhile, unless Massachusetts can produce strong evidence that she was in imminent danger, this flagrant abuse of power needs to end. I humbly ask you to keep the pressure on them to free Justina now.
